Yo whats good everybody!!! Live from the streetz of the Bronx! It's the Original HIP HOP Show!!!! Today kiddies we will discuss the term...
CRAB ASSED BITER!!!

Yippee!!!

Ok now children, let's begin. For starters when you refer to someone as a CRAB ASSED BITER...you must always have proof. Why proof you say? Well because what you are really insinuating is something that might not be very taken very nicely. So by having proof...when you are challenged, you can simply say...BOW HERE'S THE PROOF!!!

But before we continue we will first discuss the etymology of the phrase.

CRAB...a crustacean, a bottom feeder, sustains himself on the ocean floor from the droppings of others or on the decaying carcasses of dead beasts.

Crabs typically walk sideways. a behavior which gives us the term.. crab assed. (ours) This is because of the articulation of the legs which makes a sidelong gait more efficient. However, some crabs prefer to walk forwards or backwards.

Crabs are mostly active animals with complex behaviour patterns. They can communicate by drumming or waving their claws. Crabs tend to be aggressive towards one another and males often fight to gain access to females. On rocky seashores, where nearly all caves and crevices are occupied, crabs may also fight over hiding holes.

So kiddies when Jamal from up the block calls you a crab assed (N) word...he is really saying you are a deceptive, conniving type of fellow who doesn't deal straight. He is essentially saying "You smile in my face while you move sideways to achieve your own devious purposes."

Okay lets continue children. Isn't this fun?

Did you know there is an old fisherman's secret about crabs? Well, apparently when a fisherman catches a crab, he has to put him in a box with a cover to keep the crab inside. But here's the most interesting part. It is said that once the fisherman catches the second crab...he no longer needs to place the cover on the box!!! Isn't that amazing?

Yes Marlon? You have a question? Oh...I knew you were going to ask that. Marlon I'm so proud fo you. You have a sharp mind son. Class did you all hear Marlon's question? Marlon asked, "Why does this happen?"

Well, crabs are very dexterous and can use their claws to move along quite nicely. So even though the way they move may look funny to us, they are really quite efficient. The crab when he is alone, will continue to use his claws and he will eventually find a way to climb out of the box.
However, when there is another crab in the box with him, the two crabs are so anxious to get out of the box that they continuously pull each other back into the box!!! Isn't that exciting children?!

I'm sorry kids, sometimes I get too excited. How this applies to today's lesson is, when that dude with the funny eye from Brooklyn calls you a crab ass, he could also be expressing his distaste for your defeatist, plantation mentality in regards to business ventures. Its possible that he is urban shortcut to say...
" Bro...my shoe store has only been open for a year, and I'm just beginning to catch myself, and here you are opening up a shoe store right next door!!!? WTFIWWYN? I don't have a problem with honest competition, but you opening a SHOE STORE?" " THE EXACT SAME BUSINESS AS MINE? WHEN THERE IS NO RESTAURANT, NO DRY CLEANERS, NO LUMBER YARD, NO CAR DEALERSHIP........."

But since the dude with the funny eye from Brooklyn, doesn't have time to say all of that, he simply calls you a crab ass (n) word.

But there's a secondary portion to today's phrase...if you look on the board today's phrase is CRAB ASSED BITER. So where does biter come from?

Well the origin of the phrase "biter" is a little more difficult to pin down, but it is believed to also be one of the original hip hop phrases.
When hip hop was in its infancy, there was a dance craze also emerging called break dancing. It was an urban phenomenon at the time, but can still be observed 25 years later, throughout the Philippines and by very young inner city Caucasian girls in their Wednesday night hip hop classes.

Anyway, the dance began with a form of robotic yet fluid syncope, known as "popping". As the dance grew to be more athletic and began to incorporate gymnastic-like movements, this form of the dance became known as "breaking". A clear distinction was formed and can still be seen today. Often you will see the pop star perform a very fluid almost water like dance movement. That would correctly be termed "popping".

Although a clear demarcation emerged between the two styles, they were always generically termed together as "break-dancing".

What is notable to today's lesson is both forms of the style were EXTREMELY individualistic. One of the key ingredients to being a top break dancer, whether the dancer was "popping" or "breaking" was to be original. Copying of moves was strictly frowned upon, almost forbidden.

So according to the sketchy research we were able to gather about this, somewhere along the line, a dancer was accused of copying another dancer's movements. An argument ensued, and the dances were analyzed by the Rock Steady Crew, (an independent auditor). The accused dancer was found to indeed have been copying moves. His punishment, of course like all urban street situations was to forever be cast asunder in a slang term. When the accuser was asked what term he had prepared...he enthusiastically replied..."Yo Ima call him a biter! cuz he jockin me so close he must be in my mouth eating my food before I can!!!

The Rock Steady Review Board felt this was an appropriate "diss' and entered the judgment.

So children, when someone calls another a "biter" it means he is an unoriginal copycat that is incapable of coming up with his own ideas.

Oh my oh my...where did the time go? Today's lesson was rather long wasn't it/ Well I'll wrap it up as the bell is about to ring. Now that you know exactly what a crab-assed biter is...i'll show you the proof. BOW!!!
