a drag car is whatever car you set up to drag race. FWD, AWD, RWD. Rwd is just a class and it happens to be the 'better' setup physically. the faster you go the more custom and safety **** you have. it's all just different classes...i love most of it. as long long as you fast or can put on a show

Sorry I mis-spoke... I just mean if you were to make an Evo "drag car"... you'd likely make it RWD, and tub it out like for example Brent Rau's Eclpse which runs 7's.

its hard to go 8s and 9s and still be competitively fast in the turns too. I can't think of any cars that do great at both. maybe ok at one and really good at the other. i would love to see some examples of 8 and 9s cars that run close to lap records as well.

i thought the cars were setup totally with different suspension, wheels, brakes, turbo, tuning, cooling, clutch, gearing, fuel capacity, aerodynamics etc...

enlighten me

besides, these are drag cars...how do you feel about Civics and Supras that get the full works to make big power and go fast? waste too????

are you only into mild performance upgrades?
I can appreciate craftsmanship....but i appreciate a well put together and balanced car even more.

Most of those 10 and lower cars would have to be built in a completely different direction to put up with running laps around the track.

BIG power is nice, but ultimately around the track/Winding road, that power ultimately becomes useless.

by the way define mild performance upgrades? Because i rather spend all my money on Suspension/Chassis tuning and handling over spending it all on going fast in a straight line.

Again i am not trying to disrespect or ignore the major accomplishments they have gotten.

Well, seeing as this Thread is about Drag Evo's, I think you're points would be more suited in another Topic.

look at dave bushur's street car. he runs mid 9's on a dot approved tire. he has done nothing to the car suspension wise apart from new shocks. he runs a wheel which fits over the stock brembos with uprated discs and pads. he runs a gt35r on 2 litre which would be a great power band for your average circuit.

i'm not saying it's gonna set lap records, but it would probably destroy any stock lambo, 911, etc on a track. that is what i'm talking about. i'm not saying a total time attack monster should do 9's at the track. i'm just talking about a car which can run 9's with slicks at the track, and then run very competitively at your average track day.

also look at simon norris green short wheelbase evo. gt42 on stroked motor, he ran 9.2 and still took the car to track days. even to some sprints!

i'm just saying i like an all around car. once its purpose built for the drag strip i get turned off very quickly.

Street/Drag Evos FTW. this thread is going to make me trade the Bimmer for a Evo. mark my word, before the end of this year.

BTW...what year and trim is the so called 'best' EVO to get? other than 9 and 10. I will not be drag racing it. just want to make about 450 Whp.

does it matter lol but on a real i think as brandon said the III is a very good choice because u get a hella strong drivetrain, its not hampered by all the electrical gizmos and gadjets like the newer models, its lighter, and III's are jus hawt!!! other than a III i would get a 6, they are the two best looking models imho.
